Embarambamba Controversial song Regarding Kelvin Kiptum’s Death Sparks Mixed Emotions

The video of Kisii singer Christopher Mosioma, popularly known as Embarambamba, mourning the late athlete Kelvin Kiptum in a controversial song has been circulating on social media, sparking mixed reactions from netizens.

In the over three-minute-long video, the musician, surrounded by controversy, is seen seated in muddy water with most of his body smeared with mud.

The singer is heard singing a song purportedly mourning the holder of the World Record in marathon running, using perplexing words that have left many internet users questioning his state of mind.

In the beginning of the song, he narrates how the late Kiptum died in an accident and expresses his sorrow over his death.

“I am not pleased with Kelvin, I cry (*5) .. Kelvin Kelvin, Kelvin is dead. The car hit a tree, Kelvin is dead. I am not happy, here from Kenya. What should we Kenyans say? Where should Kenyans stay?” Embarambamba sang.

He continued to sing about how the athlete dedicated himself to breaking records on international platforms.

“Kenyans move, what should we Kenyans say? Where should Kenyans stay?” he sang.

The singer claimed that Kiptum came to Kenya to visit his family when he was involved in a fatal accident that led to his death.

“Kelvin is dead! He was a runner, you Kelvin. Kelvin Kelvin, where have you left your family? Kelvin Kelvin, where have you left your wife? The bed you used to sleep in, where have you left it?

Kelvin, the ugali you used to eat, where have you left it? The car went to poo, it hit Kelvin’s head! The car had an accident, the car went raaa, it hit a tree Kelvin died,” Embarambamba sang.

The singer appeared to act out everything he was singing about.

The video has been received with mixed feelings by Kenyans, with some criticizing the singer, others calling his actions foolish, while some wonder if he is mentally sound.
