Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has graduated from a white belt to a blue belt in karate.
The legislature graduated through a special karate competition held at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani Stadium over the weekend.
Babu left spectators in awe as he showcased his impressive Karate skills in the competition which involved demonstration of dedication to discipline and ability to rise to challenges.
“I came here for grading and It’s only that I cannot take Hassan Mandonga famous line ‘Sugunyo’ because it is his and he is also a boxer not a Karataker like me. From white belt I have now been promoted to blue belt.” said Babu.
The event dubbed the 2023 Patron’s Karate Championship was organized by the World Authority Traditional Karate Association of Kenya (WATKA) from 30 September to 1 October 2023 involving participants from across the 47 counties.
The MP is also the patron of the event, a position he has held since December 2022 when he was appointed.
The World Authority Traditional Karate Association of Kenya (WATKA) is led by Engineer Richard Binga.
