Ulinzi Stars in turmoil as Mwalala makes startling decision to Join rival club

Ulinzi Stars’ head coach, Bernard Mwalala, has firmly refuted rumors suggesting his departure from the military-affiliated team.

Speculations began circulating on social media, claiming that Mwalala would be leaving Ulinzi Stars to rejoin Bandari after their semifinal match in the Mozzart Bet Cup, in which they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Tusker.

However, Mwalala has categorically denied these reports, asserting his commitment to Ulinzi Stars and expressing his surprise at the unfounded claims.

“I was equally stunned when I came across the reports on social media. That’s simply outrageous. I’m not even thinking of leaving and if there is anyone interested in my services, I’m yet to be alerted,” Mwalala said as quoted by the Star.

“Those are rumours too. I’ve not held any discussions with Bandari. I don’t know who the source of information is but the whole story is misleading,” he added.

Additionally, Ulinzi Stars released an official statement addressing the circulating rumors.

“The club is aware of news feeds from various sporting forums and renowned journalist handles that emanated on Friday afternoon concerning the current status of our Head Coach Bernard Mwalala,” the statement read in part.

“At no time did he resign as claimed in the media but he continues to focus on the remaining four matches as we build a formidable team to challenge for the title next season.

“The club lashed out at those who flooded social media with misleading reports without first seeking the truth from the management, knowing too well the possible negative psychological impact on the players.”

“Mwalala arrived when the team had already completed the pre-season and has done a commendable job in the short time he has been here. He has given a chance to young talents that could not otherwise have gotten a chance at the highest stage.”

“Compared to last year’s performance, Mwalala and his dedicated team have done exceptionally well and dared us to dream. These performances have also revived the famous Ulinzi Stand 001 fans who are now back to stands cheering our team.
