Tusker’s dramatic late win over struggling AFC Leopards sends shockwaves through FKF-P

Defending champions Tusker have cut the gap on Gor Mahia to four points after securing a late 1-0 victory over AFC Leopards in a FKF-PL match played on Wednesday, 5 April.

The game looked set to end in a stalemate until the 92nd minute when Lawrence Luvanda’s cross found Stewart Omondi, who unleashed a powerful right-footed shot into the net to secure all three points for the visitors.

The win sees Tusker move up to second place in the league with 42 points, just four points behind leaders Gor Mahia, who drew 0-0 with Sofapaka at Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani Stadium.

With a game in hand, Tusker will be hoping to close the gap even further and potentially overtake Gor Mahia in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Inspired Bandari FC secured an impressive 5-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars at the Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa. The result saw Bandari move up to seventh place in the league standings with 32 points.

KCB also recorded a 1-0 win over Nairobi City Stars at MISC Kasarani Annex, which saw them move up to third place on 41 points.

Elsewhere, Wazito and Kenya Police played out a goalless draw at Muhoroni Stadium in Kisumu, while Mathare United staged a remarkable comeback from two goals down to beat FC Talanta 3-2 at MISC Kasarani Annex.

In a bizarre turn of events, Nzoia was awarded a victory after their opponents Vihiga failed to show up for their match at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
