Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has secured exclusive rights to broadcast the FKF Mozzart Cup, which is set to kick off this weekend.
KBC announced that it will air the entire tournament, which will run from March 4 to May 18. The Mozzart Bet Cup Round of 32 matches will take place across the country this weekend, with sixteen matches scheduled.
Gor Mahia, the defending champions, will commence their title defence against Kibera Soccer, an FKF Division One team, at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Sunday. In another match, Tusker, the three-time champions, will face Berlin FC from Garissa at the Kasarani Annex.
AFC Leopards, the runners-up in the last edition, will face Zetech Titans at the Kasarani Main Stadium.
Additionally, Rainbow FC, an FKF Division One side, will start their journey in the tournament against National Super League (NSL) team Migori Youth. Nyota FC, who hope to replicate Luanda Villa’s success in the last edition, will play against Darajani Gogo at Mumias. Ulinzi Stars will travel to Kajiado to face NSL team Kajiado FC, while MOFA, sponsored by Michael Olunga, will play KCB FC at Gusii Stadium in Kisii.
On Sunday, Sofapaka will travel to Central Kenya to take on Karatina Super Stars at the Karatina Stadium. Bandari will play Administration Police away in Yatta, and Kenya Police FC will face Scarlet at the Kasarani Annex. Meanwhile, Kariobangi Sharks will play Marula away at the Longonot Horticulture Grounds, where both teams will hope to cause upsets.
Equity FC, who reached the semi-finals of the previous edition, will begin their campaign by hosting underdog Mara Sugar. Equity FC’s impressive run in the 2021 tournament, which included eliminating Bandari FC in the quarter-finals, has generated a lot of attention, and the team will be eager to replicate that success this year.
