AFC Leopards tactician Patrick Aussems has silenced critics after a section of the media claimed that the Belgium-based tactician was set to be fired after a spate of poor results.

Leopards’ had failed to get a win in their consecutive premier league matches. Their only wins this season were 2-0 victory against Ulinzi Stars on November 19 and 1-0 triumph over Nairobi City Stars on January 4.

But On Sunday, Leopards secured their third win of the season with a 2-0 triumph over coastal-based side Bandari FC. Clifford Nyakeya scored Ingwe’s goals, and Ojo Olaniyi in a match played at the Mbaraki Sports Ground in Mombasa.

A statement issued on Monday morning, January 23, Aussems stated that individuals should reason before making opinions.

“After 10 matches AFC has 14 points; last season after 10 matches we had 9 points, so we have fifty percent more!

“I agree people should think before talking. So I told my players, don’t let someone who’s never been in your shoes tell you how to tie your laces! Keep going, guys!” he ended.

Aussems endured a difficult time at the helm of AFC Leopards this season, with some fans questioning his abilities.

Critics have also blamed the club’s management for the lack of success on the pitch and particularly point to the lack of quality in signings of new players, and a lack of professionalism leading to contractual disputes between players, technical bench, and staff.

Additionally, they lament the failure to lure corporate sponsors and instead rely on politicians for handouts to remain afloat as part of the problem.
