Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has been flown out of the country for further specialized treatment after he was recently involved in a road accident on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

The party, in a statement to the press through Communications Director Albert Memusi on Thursday, said Tuju’s family had arrived at the decision following consultations with the doctors, however falling short of stating exactly where he was being flown to.

Tuju, according to Mr. Memusi, had also been moved from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the ward after his specialist observed tremendous improvement in his health over the past few days.

“The party is in close and constant communication with the family to monitor every progress made and will continue giving progress reports on his condition,” read the statement,

“The party requests that we continue to pray for his quick recovery.”

Tuju, who also doubles up as a Cabinet Secretary without a portfolio, was involved in a road accident on February 12, 2020 while on his way to the funeral of the late retired president Daniel Moi in Kabarak.

According to police, the accident occurred when a matatu tried to overtake and got onto the lane where Tuju’s car was being driven, leading to a head-on collision.

Tuju’s role at the Jubilee Party has since been taken over by the Executive Director, James Waweru, who will be assisted by other directors until the Secretary-General is out of the woods
